More about this Romeo and Juliet quote

The full quote as displayed on the poster reads like this:

“These violent delights have violent ends,
And in their triumph die; like fire and powder,
Which, as they kiss, consume: the sweetest honey
Is loathsome in his own deliciousness,
And in the taste confounds the appetite:
Therefore love moderately: long love doth so.”

Friar Lawrence (Act 2, Scene 6)

This quote is taken from Act 2, Scene 6, in which Friar Lawrence marries Romeo to Juliet. Although he is advising Romeo not to give into to such strong passions (or else face equally powerful ends), the Friar does indeed marry them. This scene sets the stage for the ultimate tragedy later in the play.
