Words Wednesday: James Joyce
It’s Words Wednesday! Today we’re focusing on the father of modernist literature, James Joyce.
This quote comes from James Joyce’s masterpiece, Ulysses. Originally published in serial form over two years (1918 to 1920), Ulysses is widely renowned as the most important example of modernist literature. Written in a challenging stream-of-consciousness style, Ulysses is often ranked as the best English-language novel of all time.
“Every life is in many days, day after day. We walk through ourselves, meeting robbers, ghosts, giants, old men, young men, wives, widows, brothers-in-love. But always meeting ourselves.”
-James Joyce, Ulysses
